About Foerster Elementary

Foerster Elementary is not just a school. For the vast majority of its more than 700 students, it’s a refuge from a challenging world where poverty, hunger and crime are all too commonplace. A diverse population spanning a myriad of ethnicities shares one thing in common: nearly 99% of its students are categorized as economically disadvantaged.

Not everything is bleak at Foerster, however. A dedicated team of teachers and administrators are striving to make a difference in their children’s lives, often going out of pocket personally to fill in the gaps.

Perhaps the brightest spot is the recent implementation of HISD’s Wraparound Services program, which seeks to address critical issues ranging from mental/physical health and food insecurity to stable housing, violence and parent incarceration. Working with Foerster’s School Counselor and Wraparound Resource Specialist, Parkway hopes with your assistance, we can make outdated classrooms more functional, enhance everyday school supplies, fulfill basic hygiene and clothing needs, stock a pantry of weekend snacks to bridge meals between school lunches and ultimately minimize the shortfalls that adversely affect college and career readiness or the students’ ability to learn.

We would like to thank Orascom E&C USA, Inc. for pilot support of furniture donations that among other things resulted in the first new desk chairs for teachers in decades.

Please help us put a smile on their faces and provide them the tools to focus on and excel in their classes by making a donation of new or gently used items.

They are most in need of:

• Non-Perishable Food Items
• Children’s Clothing
• Hygiene Products
